DrawPlus Tutorials

Step 1
Select the Quick Ellipse tool and click+release (without dragging), to create a perfect circle at the default size of 96 Pix (or equivalent if your ruler unit is different).
Fill the circle with a light blue-

Step 2
Select the Quick Star tool, and again just click+release to create a star with equal
proportions. With the Node Tool drag the top ‘Node’ slider to the middle, and drag
the right-

Step 3
Select the Roughen Tool and drag up a little. Then fill this shape with R=47,G=71,B=86. Set the outline to ‘None’. Switch to the Pointer Tool and drag on a corner handle to reduce the size just a tiny bit (so that when placed on top of the circle, it will sit just inside).

Step 4
Copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the roughened star shape. Set this new shape’s colour to R=117,G=141,B=156. Now select the Rotate Tool and drag on one of this star’s corner handles, so you can partially see the darker coloured one underneath.
Paste another star (Ctrl+V), and give this one R=155,G=195,B=213 colour fill. Reduce the size of the top star by about a third and rotate the shape a little. We should now have three roughened star shapes layered on top of one another, and with different coloured fills.

Step 5
We are now need to draw the pupil, so select the Quick Ellipse again, and draw a small circle about the quarter of the diameter of the first circle we drew in Step 1. Using the Filter Effects Give this new circle a black Outer Glow.

Step 6
Select all the shapes you have drawn so far by pressing Ctrl+A (or drag a marquee around them), then go to the menu Arrange > Align Objects..., and centre them vertically & horizontally (DP8 users now also have the convenience of an Align tab on the Studio).

Step 7
Almost done -
Select the Quick Ellipse and click+release to draw a perfect circle. With the Node Tool selected, drag the node sliders to create a shape like a thin slice of pie. Draw another circle, and position this one just over the point of the pie. Select both and press Subtract. Fill the object white and remove it’s outline.
Select the Transparency Tool and click+drag from just above the top-
Position this highlight shape over the eye, to add the finishing touch!
